Super Rare Pleiochroic Lazurite, Rapid Creek, Yukon, Canada 21x20x7 mm
The finest Lazulite in the world comes from only two places and in very limited quantities. Afghanistan was the best locality up until about 20 years ago when a deposit was found of some jaw droppingly exceptional pleiochroic blue green Lazulite crystals that created a great deal of excitement upon their discovery. Where these prized crystals are found is one of the most rugged difficult to get to localities imaginable up in the frozen Yukon of Canada in a place called Rapid Creek, Ontario. To get to this locality one must charter a bush plane, then go white water rafting and then go off road on an ATV. It is dangerous and expensive. If you can make it past the blackflies and the treacherous environment you will be treated to the best Lazulite crystals ever! The crystals are navy blue with glassy smooth luster and sharp crystal structure. Many of the crystals will allow light to pass through them showcasing the color shift from shades of blue to yellow and green. 2.1 x 2.0 x 0.7 cm
