There is an inline on off switch. The volume control knob is located on the side of the frame. It has a range from no sound to quite loud.
I''ve noticed that with some of these older pieces, the sound component sometimes requires a little warm-up time. For about the first 10 minutes after turning it on, the bird sounds are constant and then taper off to a pleasant intermittent cadence. The art area measures 34" by 13 1/2"
It is surrounded by a beautiful ornate wood frame it measures 38" long by 19" tall x 3 1/2 deep.
